The whistle of the wind.
The laugh of a child.
The sound of a baby goat.
The rhythm of a song.
The birds singing.
The chirping of crickets.
The leaves rustling in the wind.
The rooster crowing.
The fire crackling.
All of these things have something in common, they all sing praises to the Lord. I have come to learn that everything, all of creation, is constantly singing to the Lord.
This realization hit me one day as I was sitting at my care point. It was a slow morning, we had no chores to do and only a couple of small children to entertain. I sat down on the step of the one structure the care point has. I closed my eyes. I listened. I could hear all the things I listed above. I heard the wind and the birds. I heard the children’s laughs and the fire burning. In this moment I became aware that all of creation truly is worshipping the King of kings and the Lord of lords. If even all these things like roosters and trees worship the Lord why would we not? God has made us so much greater and loves us so much more than these things, why do we not praise him at all times? Why are we not giving praise and glory back in everything we do? All the day long and throughout the whole night we should be praising the Lord. The Bible says that if we are silent, even the rocks will cry out (Luke 19:40). Creation itself cannot help but sing. The skies declare His glory, and the earth whispers His name in every sound and movement.
I want to join in the everlasting song. I want to sing praises to my Father, the King no matter the time or my circumstances. I want to give Him glory in all that I do. I do not want the rocks or the trees to sing for me. I will lift up my praises to the Lord all the days long.
Psalm 98: 4-8
“Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises! Sing praises to the Lord with the lyre, with the lyre and the sound of melody! With trumpets and the sound of the horn make a joyful noise before the King, the Lord! Let the sea roar, and all that fills it; the world and those who dwell in it! Let the rivers clap their hands; let the hills sing for joy together”
