God is constantly speaking to me. He is whispering through moments, people, and creation itself, even when I do not realize it. Sometimes His messages come quietly, tucked into the rhythm of everyday life. Through the warmth of a sunrise, the twinkle of stars, the laughter of children, or the song of a bird. His presence surrounds me inviting me to listen more closely.
Often I catch myself trying to put God in a box. I expect Him to speak in a specific way, at a specific time, or through an audible voice. I forget how limitless He truly is. I wait for something big, something obvious, and in doing so I miss the gentle nudges He is already sending me.
God is not confined to my expectations. He can speak through a friend’s words, a verse that catches my eye, a song that moves my heart, or even a moment of quiet peace in the middle of chaos. His creativity has no limits, and His love shows up in ways I least expect.
I have had many little whispers from God this past month in Swazi. One that stuck out to me was on a night during prayer and worship. We were going around anointing different things, and I asked God what He wanted me to anoint. In my head I kept seeing doorframes, but I ignored it thinking it was just my imagination. I asked God again wanting to be sure and right as I finished my prayer the next word sung in the song was doorframes. It was such a simple moment, yet so powerful, a gentle confirmation that God was really speaking, even in the smallest details.
So I am learning to slow down and pay attention to look for those subtle little messages from God that remind me He is here, guiding and loving me through it all.
